On Wednesday night, the SPL’s bottom two clubs meet, as St. Mirren host Hearts at the Simple Digital Arena.
Both teams are enduring poor campaigns in the Scottish Premier League. The home side are currently in the relegation play-off spot. However, they are just a point behind Hamilton Academicals and three behind Ross County. A win in this clash would see Jim Goodwin’s team move up to ninth-place in the table.
Unfortunately for St. Mirren, wins have been hard to come by of late in the SPL, as they have won just once in eight league outings, while also claiming just two wins in their last 12 SPL outings.

St. Mirren are unbeaten in their last four home games in the SPL. However, unfortunately for the home side, their last three home games have finished in draws. Their recent home games in the SPL have also been low-scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in their last four matches on home soil.
Hearts are in desperate need of a victory in this clash, as the visitors from the Scottish capital are rock bottom of the table, three points behind the visitors.
The visitor's recent form in the SPL has been inconsistent. However, the Jambos have won just once in their last six SPL outings. A 1-1 home draw with Motherwell last time out means they are now three league games unbeaten, although two of those games have ended in draws.
A record of just one home win in nine SPL outings has been a big contributing factor to Hearts current position.
