Can Bournemouth do the double over Chelsea?

Chelsea will be looking for revenge this weekend as they travel to the Vitality Stadium to face Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.

The Cherries beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge earlier in the campaign, so Frank Lampard will be desperate for his side to come away with all three points this time around.

Bournemouth come into this game on the back of consecutive defeats in the Premier League. After losing to Sheffield United, Eddie Howe’s men were beaten 3-0 by Burnley last time out.

Howe will be bitterly disappointed that his side failed to come away from Turf Moor without anything to show for their efforts, especially after they had two goals ruled out by VAR.

However, Bournemouth haven’t been good enough in recent weeks, and their poor form has left them sitting just two points clear of the relegation zone in 16th.

Meanwhile, Chelsea ended a run of four league games without a win by beating London rivals Tottenham last weekend.

The 2-1 victory over Spurs saw the Blues cement 4th place in the table. But the gap between Chelsea and third-place Leicester is now six points, while a resurgent Manchester United are only three points behind.

Away from the Premier League, Chelsea are all but eliminated from the Champions League after suffering a heavy 3-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in midweek.

The German side outclassed Lampard’s men in every department, leaving the Blues with little hope for the second leg of their Round of 16 tie.

A trip to Bournemouth provides Chelsea with the ideal opportunity to return to winning ways. The Cherries may have beaten Chelsea in December, but the Blues have won seven of their previous ten games against the Cherries in all competitions.

Eddie Howe will be without a number of key players this weekend as Arnaut Danjuma, Charlie Daniels, Chris Mepham, David Brooks and Lloyd Kelly are all injured. On a more positive note, Jefferson Lerma is expected to be fit.

As for Chelsea, N’Golo Kante is still nursing an injury, but forwards Callum Hudson-Odoi and Christian Pulisic are both close to making a return. Tammy Abraham is expected to start after making the bench against Bayern on Tuesday.

Bournemouth are fighting against relegation, but Chelsea have top-four ambitions to take care of. The Cherries are likely to get on the scoresheet, but the Blues should outscore the home side with ease.

Forebet predicts that both teams will score, but Chelsea will come away with the victory.
