Norwich host Leicester for Friday night Premier League clash

Norwich and Leicester kick off the weekend’s Premier League action as the Foxes visit Carrow Road on Friday night.

Bottom club Norwich will be looking to chip away at the six-point gap between them and Watford, while third-place Leicester will be eager to return to winning ways following a run of three games without a victory.

Norwich have only managed to win four of their 24 league games this term and come into this game on the back of a comprehensive 3-0 defeat to Wolves.

Like many games this season, the Canaries enjoyed the lion’s share of the possession at Molineux last weekend. However, they created very few goalscoring opportunities and were outclassed by Nuno Espirito Santo’s side in every department.

Norwich remain rooted to the foot of the Premier League table and relegation has been on the cards for some time now.

At the other end of the table, Leicester are third – seven points behind second-place Manchester City and six points ahead of fifth-place Chelsea.

Following back-to-back draws with Chelsea and Wolves, Brendan Rodgers’ side were beaten 1-0 by top-four rivals Man City last time out.

Kasper Schmeichel saved a Sergio Aguero penalty to keep his team in the game, but a late Gabriel Jesus goal ultimately proved to be the difference between the two teams.

Leicester have stuttered a bit of late, but a trip to Carrow Road provides Rodgers’ side with the ideal opportunity to pick up three points.

The Foxes are unbeaten in their last four games against Norwich, but Leicester haven’t beaten the Canaries by more than one goal during that time.

The two teams played out a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture at the King Power Stadium earlier in the season. Teemu Pukki put Norwich in front, put a Tim Krul own goal leveled the score.

Pukki got off to a flying start this season, netting six goals in his first five Premier League appearances. However, the Norwich striker has since managed just five in the 21 top-flight games.

Meanwhile, Leicester striker Jamie Vardy is the division’s joint top scorer with 17 goals to his name. But the 33-year-old has failed to find the back of the next in his previous seven outings.

Let’s turn our attention to the team news now. Onel Hernandez, Sam Byram and Timm Klose are all sidelined for Norwich, while Christoph Zimmermann remains a major doubt for Friday’s game.

As for Leicester, Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi will have to pass late fitness tests in order to feature this weekend. Nampalys Mendy will miss out through injury, while Hamza Choudhury is suspended.

As always, Norwich won’t go down without a fight. The home side are likely to frustrate the visitors, but Leicester should have enough quality to steal a narrow win.

Forebet predicts that Leicester will come away from Carrow Road with all three points. However, it’s likely to be a low-scoring clash, so a clean sheet is also on the cards for the visitors.
