Fulham and Swansea to both score at Craven Cottage
1972

Third placed Fulham return to their Craven Cottage ground on Wednesday night to take on 9th placed Swansea City knowing they need a win in order to try and stay in touch with 2nd placed Leeds United and the last automatic promotion spot.

Following a run of three matches without a win in the Championship, Fulham now find themselves 9 points adrift of Championship league leaders, West Brom and 5 points behind Leeds prior to these midweek matches.

Two 1-1 draws either side of a disastrous 3-0 defeat at home to Barnsley have resulted in Fulham losing ground on the top two teams in the second tier, but they have another chance to rectify their situation on Tuesday night.

Results at home have generally been pretty good but Fulham do possess an inconsistent streak which can rear it’s head at any time, as per the Barnsley game, so perhaps it may be best to lean towards the goal markets here especially as 9 of their 17 matches have seen both teams score.

Onto Swansea City, and the Welsh outfit arguably look in slightly better shape than their hosts as The Swans registered a 3-1 home win against Huddersfield Town on the weekend which followed points picked up in draws with QPR and Hull City in recent weeks too.

The visitors have suffered just 1 defeat out of their last 5 matches and just 2 from their last 10  matches in the Championship, and it’s been their consistent results in recent months that have kept them in the frame for a possible play-off spot.

Swansea trail 6th placed Preston by just 5 points and the Welsh club have lost just 3 of their 16 away matches in the Championship so far this term, so they’ll be in reasonably confident mood ahead of their trip to London on Wednesday night.

However, The Swans are without an away win from their last 5 matches on their travels, so the goals market also appeals here; indeed, 10 of Swansea’s 16 away matches have also seen both teams score and they could well punish Fulham for any lack of concentration at the back in this encounter.

In addition, 5 of the last 6 meetings at Craven Cottage between Fulham and Swansea have resulted in both teams scoring, and this trend could continue here.
