Wolverhampton Wanderers to roll over Norwich City
Wolverhampton vs Norwich City - 23/02/2020
2131
Wolverhampton Wanderers are flying high after defeating La Liga’s Espanyol on Thursday night 4-0 in their Europa League last 32 first leg. Nuno Espirito Santo’s team now turn their attention to Norwich City before travelling to Barcelona to play Espanyol four days later in the Europa League.
The West Midlands team are not in the best league form, but with Norwich City at the bottom of the Premier League, Wolves will feel confident of winning. Wolverhampton Wanderers defeated Norwich City 2-1 away earlier this season.
Norwich City took a 1-0 lead into halftime courtesy of Todd Cantwell. Wolverhampton Wanderers came back in the second period to score twice through Romain Saiss and Raul Jimenez.
Daniel Farke’s team are on their way back to the EFL Championship unless they begin winning now. Norwich City are at the bottom of the Premier League table and are winless in their last three games. Norwich City are seven points adrift from safety.
The good news for the Canaries is the poor form of the teams in front of them. The relegation candidate teams are all beating up on each other. Norwich City have hope of survival but it is waning.
Santo could be influenced to rotate his side. He played a strong team featuring Jimenez, Adama Traore, Diogo Jota, and Ruben Neves in midweek. One of the four could drop out of the starting XI versus Norwich City.
The manager could give Pedro Neto or Daniel Podence a start. Wolves do not have deep squad and Santo has used many of the same players throughout the season.
Wolverhampton Wanderers are just five points off of the top four and a win could take them closer to Champions League qualification. Manchester City’s two-year Champions League ban could allow Wolves to get into the tournament by finishing fifth.
Norwich City have won just one time on their travels this season. They have lost nine games and scored a mere six goals on their travels. It is the lowest tally away from home in the Premier League. They have conceded 22 times on the road.
Wolverhampton Wanderers haven’t been as strong at home this season as last, but they are picking up points. Wolves are unbeaten in four of their last six league home games.
Santo’s side should continue their good form at Molineux despite playing on Thursday night. Expect a comprehensive Wolves win with under 2.5 goals being scored.
