Preston to continue momentum against stuttering Millwall
2074

After a dramatic downturn in results in the Championship from the end of November through to mid-January, Saturday’s hosts, Preston North End, seem to have got their push for a play-off spot well and truly back on track in recent weeks.

Alex Neil’s side have won 4 of their last 5 matches in the Championship with victories recorded over Charlton Athletic, Barnsley, Wigan Athletic and Wednesday night’s 2-0 win away from home at Stoke City.

Preston had previously managed just 2 wins out of their previous 11 matches prior to their recent revival which had thrown their play-off ambitions seemingly to the wind but the hosts have returned to their form that they showed earlier in the season and look to be in the box seat to take all three points against Millwall at Deepdale this Saturday.

The hosts have been pretty consistent at home all season as they’ve suffered just 3 defeats during this campaign at their fortress Deepdale, as well as picking up the joint highest number of home wins in the division (10), tied with 3rd placed Fulham.

Onto Millwall, and their fleeting ambitions of attaining a top six finish and spot in the play-offs now seem to have fallen by the wayside as The Lions have now endured a 4-match sequence without a win in the Championship.

Despite gaining a solid point against high-flying London rivals, Fulham, in a 1-1 draw at The Den on Wednesday night, the visitors have lost valuable ground on the play-off pack following defeats to Leeds United and West Brom as well as being held to draws by Sheffield Wednesday and the aforementioned Fulham.

In fact, Gary Rowett’s boys have picked up just 1 win out of their last 6 matches which came in the form of a 2-0 home win against Reading, while the visitors have dropped points on their travels in recent weeks too.

Millwall are without a win on the road from their last 4 outings too, and although they’ve lost just 1 and drawn 3, they’ll be up against an an-form and confident Preston North End outfit at Deepdale this Saturday.

Preston have re-discovered their mojo and with home advantage behind them, the hosts should ease past Millwall in this clash.
