Fulham to continue momentum against Barnsley
2247

Although they were held to a 1-1 draw away from home at Millwall on Wednesday night, Fulham extended their unbeaten run in the Championship to 6 matches as Scott Parker’s side seem to have once gain timed their run-in of this Championship campaign to almost perfection.

Similar to their previous Championship promotion campaign under former manager, Slavia Jokanovic, Fulham seem to have hit their straps at just about the right time as The Cottagers now sit in 3rd spot and level on 56 points apiece with 2nd placed Leeds United.

The momentum is firmly on Fulham’s side though and they look the more likely of the two clubs to join Championship league leaders, West Brom, back into the Premier League at this stage, and with bottom club Barnsley coming to Craven Cottage this Saturday, this represents the perfect opportunity for Fulham to grab another valuable three points in the promotion race.

Fulham have also won 4 of their last 5 matches at Craven Cottage as the London club have recorded victories over Leeds United, Stoke City, Middlesbrough and Huddersfield Town, so the hosts look in good shape ahead of this clash.

Barnsley suffered another agonising defeat on Tuesday night at Oakwell in a narrow 1-0 defeat to a rejuvenated Birmingham City which became Barnsley’s fourth defeat in five matches overall in the Championship.

The Tykes dropped down to the bottom of the Championship as a result of that midweek loss and they now find themselves 9 points adrift of fourth from bottom club, Stoke City and safety ahead of this very tough looking trip to the nation’s capital to take on an in-form Fulham outfit.

Barnsley’s very limited success so far in what has been a miserable return to the Championship has mostly been achieved at Oakwell where they’ve captured 4 of their total of 5 wins to date this term.

This therefore means that the Yorkshire club have managed to pick up just 1 win on their travels throughout this campaign so far, which was a 2-1 victory at Millwall, but they’ve since slumped to three defeats on the trot on the road.

Losses at Derby County, Bristol City and Charlton Athletic (the latter being a particularly damaging blow against their relegation rivals) have been tough to take, but things don’t look any easier for the visitors ahead of this clash at Fulham.
