Inter Milan to meet Fiorentina in Coppa Italia quarterfinal

Inter Milan will host Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia quarterfinal on Wednesday night at the San Siro. The Nerazzurri and Viola will play the last quarterfinal match of the round.

Napoli and Juventus have already booked their places in the semifinals. AC Milan and Torino will clash on Tuesday in the other quarterfinal match to be played this week.

Inter Milan head into the quarterfinal unbeaten in their last seven matches in all competitions. Antonio Conte’s team has registered a 3W-4D-0L record. Inter Milan’s dip in form, three straight Serie A draws, has left them three points behind Juventus in the race for the Scudetto.

The Nerazzurri will turn their attentions to Fiorentina, a team they haven’t defeated in their last two meetings. Inter Milan and Fiorentina drew 1-1 at the Stadio Artemio Franchi in Serie A earlier this season. The Viola came from 1-0 down at halftime to draw the fixture.

Fiorentina are unbeaten in their last five matches in all competitions. Three of the five matches ended in Fiorentina victories. Four of the five games ended with under 2.5 goals scored as Fiorentina have kept things close. The Viola drew nil-nil with Genoa at the weekend.

Fiorentina are without Gaetano Castrovilli after he suffered a head injury versus Genoa last weekend. Iachini has put an emphasis on forward Federico Chiesa since taking over and the Italian international should play a big role in the match.

Twelve of the last 15 matches in all competitions between Inter Milan and Fiorentina have finished with over 2.5 goals scored. Wednesday night’s quarterfinal should once again see over 2.5 goals as both teams find the back of the net.

Inter Milan may have injuries but the quality in the squad is thicker than at Fiorentina. Expect a home win from Inter Milan as they march on in the Coppa Italia.
