EFL Championship club Millwall host Premier League side Sheffield United at The Den on Saturday with a giant killing on the cards.

Millwall have been excellent since October with the appointment of manager Gary Rowett. The Lions have lost just three times since Rowett took over at The Den.

Sheffield United have hit a dip in their Premier League form. They have only posted a record of 1W-2D-3L in their last six league fixtures.

Rowett led Millwall past League Two’s Newport County in the FA Cup third round, 3-0. The Lions had little difficult winning versus the fourth division team to book a place versus Sheffield United.

Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United are slowly sinking in the league table. They are now eighth in the Premier League and Wilder could sacrifice the competition to improve the Blades’ dipping league play.

Sheffield United defeated AFC Fylde in the FA Cup third round, 2-1. The fixture shouldn’t have been quite so close versus the non-league side. Sheffield United outplayed Fylde in the opening 60 minutes before the visitors made a comeback in the final quarter of an hour.

Millwall and Sheffield United have recent history versus one another in the EFL Championship and League One. Between 2015 and 2019, the two clubs met eight times in the EFL Championship and League One.

The Lions posted a 4W-2D-2L record during that time. However, Sheffield United are unbeaten in their last two games versus Sheffield United. The Blades won 3-2 at The Den last season while drawing at Bramall Lane.

Despite playing well in recent time versus Millwall, playing away on Saturday and their dipping form could doom Sheffield United at The Den in the cup.

As it stands, Wilder has just one injury worry at Bramall Lane. Striker David McGoldrick could miss the match with an ankle injury. He is expected to undergo a late fitness test ahead of the fixture.

Wilder could start January transfer signings Jack Rodwell and Jack Robinson. Sheffield United do not have a big squad and high-quality attacking players are in short supply.

Sheffield United have scored just 25 league goals this season. It is the fifth-fewest goals in the division. Millwall should take advantage of Sheffield United’s lack of goalscoring and secure a famous win in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday.

Rowett’s team is in excellent form and should win to nil versus the Premier League side. Expect under 2.5 goals as these teams play a close match at The Den.
