Benfica have enjoyed a sensational campaign in the Primeira Liga this season. The Eagles are currently four points clear at the top of the table and a home game with struggling Aves on Friday night gives them an opportunity to stretch their lead at the top of the table.
Bruno Lage’s team have produced a near-perfect league campaign so far, winning 14 of their 15 league matches and suffering just one defeat. Their only blip in the current league campaign was a 1-0 defeat by rivals Porto in August.

Aves have endured a woeful campaign. The home sides excellence is nearly matched by the visitor’s poor recent record in the Portuguese top-flight. They are currently rock bottom of the table, having picked up just six points from their 15 Primeira Liga games so far this season.
The fact that Aves have lost 13 of their last 14 league matches illustrates just how big a task that they have on their hands on Friday night.
