Arsenal will be looking to build on their impressive win over Manchester United when they host Leeds United in the FA Cup third round on Monday night.

The Gunners have endured a dismal 2019/20 campaign so far. But with new boss Mikel Arteta at the helm, the club will now be looking to climb up the Premier League table.

Arsenal are currently tenth in the top-flight standings after winning just six of their 21 league games this season.

However, the Gunners looked like a completely different team as they brushed aside Man Utd in their previous game, so Arteta will be confident of beating Leeds.

Still, Marcelo Bielsa’s men are top of the Championship, so they’re likely to provide a stern test for the top-flight side.

Leeds come into this game on the back a 1-1 draw with fellow promotion rivals West Brom. Leeds and West Brom both have 52 points – nine more than third-place Brentford.

Bielsa’s side are the second-highest scorers in the second-tier, while they also boast the second-best defensive record in the division.

This is the first meeting between Arsenal and Leeds since 2012. Arsenal beat Leeds 1-0 in an FA Cup third round tie on that occasion, and the Gunners also knocked out Leeds in this competition in 2010/11.

In fact, Leeds have failed to beat Arsenal since 2003. The Premier League outfit are unbeaten in the last six meetings between the two teams – winning five and drawing one.

Arteta is likely to use this game as an opportunity to get to know some of his players, so we could see the new manager field an experimental starting line-up, with focus on the club’s league form a priority.

Hector Bellerin could make a return to action following a thigh injury, while promising young striker Gabriel Martinelli is likely to start following a string of impressive performances in the Europa League this season.

Arsenal loanee Eddie Nketiah has been recalled by his parent club, but it’s unclear whether or not he will feature on Monday.

Star striker Patrick Bamford is in line to return for Leeds after starting on the bench for the draw at West Brom.

Leeds should make things difficult for Arsenal, but the Premier League club are expected to advance to the fourth round with a win.

Forebet predicts that while both teams will score, the Gunners should come out on top.
