Tottenham expected to keep Norwich bottom with win at Carrow Road

The Premier League’s bottom side, Norwich City, host Tottenham Hotspur at Carrow Road on Saturday. The visitors will be looking to break into the top four for the first time this season, while Norwich will be desperate to claim all three points.

The Canaries are without a victory in their previous six league games. Two draws and four defeats have seen Daniel Farke’s side slip to the foot of the table.

With fellow strugglers, Watford, enjoying a recent upturn in form, Norwich are now seven points from safety.

Norwich enjoyed the lion’s share of possession in their previous game and also had 16 shots against Aston Villa. However, the Canaries failed to make their dominance count.

It’s fair to say that Tottenham have been very inconsistent under Jose Mourinho so far. Spurs have climbed to fifth in the table, but defeats to Manchester United and Chelsea have exposed the team’s weaknesses.

Still, Mourinho’s men came from behind to beat Brighton on Boxing Day. Second-half goals from Harry Kane and Dele Alli turned the game around for Spurs.

Alli has now scored four goals and notched up two assists in the seven league games since Mourinho took over at the club, while Kane has also netted four in that time.

When you look at the head-to-head record between Norwich and Tottenham, you have to fear the worst for the home side on Saturday.

Spurs have won the previous two meetings between the two teams 3-0, while the Canaries last won in this fixture back in 2014.

With that being said, Tottenham haven’t travelled well this season. Just nine of their 29 points have come on the road in 2019/20.

This will give Daniel Farke a faint glimmer of hope, but Norwich have been poor both home and away this term.

The Canaries have been hampered by injuries upon their return to the top-flight, but many of their key players have returned in recent weeks.

However, promising youngster Ben Godfrey is set for a lengthy spell of the sidelines after suffering a serious knee injury.

As for Tottenham, Son Heung-min remains suspended following his red card, while Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko are both unavailable after picking up five yellow cards this season.

Given the contrasting form of the two sides, all the signs are pointing towards an away win in this game.

Forebet predicts that both teams will score, but Spurs should score over 2.5 goals on their way to victory.
