Manchester United to cruise past Everton

Manchester United are in brilliant form heading into Sunday’s match at Old Trafford versus Everton. The Red Devils head into the weekend in fifth place and on an upward swing. The club are unbeaten in four straight league matches and just five points off of fourth-place Chelsea.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side is coming off of a massive win away in the Manchester Derby, 2-1. Everton, on the other hand, are also coming off of a big win. They defeated Chelsea 3-1 at Goodison Park. It ended a three-match losing streak that saw the club finally sack Marco Silva.

Interim manager Duncan Ferguson oversaw Everton’s win against Chelsea as the club looks to its past for the next manager. Former manager David Moyes is linked with the Everton hot-seat once more and could return to the club.

For now, Ferguson will lead Everton to Old Trafford for the fixture. The Toffees haven’t won at Old Trafford since December 2013. Since that win, Everton have not won at Old Trafford in their last six visits to the famous ground.

Solskjaer could have the duo of Jesse Lingard and Diogo Dalot back from injury. Lingard is overcoming a knock and is listed as nearly fit for the match. Dalot maybe further away from appearing as he has only recently returned to training.

There is no Paul Pogba, Marcos Rojo, Timothy Fosu-Mensah or Eric Bailly for Manchester United. All four are suffering from long-term issues.

The injuries have suddenly mounted at Everton with eight players listed as injured. Lucas Digne, Andre Gomes, and Jean-Philippe Gbamin are ruled out of the fixture. Meanwhile, Fabian Delph, Theo Walcott, and Yerry Mina could miss out due to their respective injury issues.

Manchester United have dominated the last 10 matches against Everton in all competitions. The Red Devils are unbeaten in nine of their last 10 fixtures. Sunday’s result will depend on which Manchester United team shows up.

The Red Devils have played great against the top teams in the Premier League, but played down to the level of lesser competition. Everton were improved a week ago against Chelsea. The big question is can they keep it going for a second straight week?

Four of the last 10 matches between Manchester United and Everton have finished with both teams scoring. Based on last week’s performances, these teams should both find the back of the net.

The Red Devils should out gun the Toffees and post a third Premier League win in three matches. Expect over 2.5 goals to be scored.
