Chelsea ready for victory over uninspired Bournemouth

Fresh from reaching the last 16 in the Champions League, Chelsea will be looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they host Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

After a strong start to the 2019/20 campaign, the Blues have lost three of their last five league games. Still, Frank Lampard’s side remain in fourth place – three points behind third-place Manchester City and five clear of Manchester United in fifth.

Defeats to Man City, West Ham and Everton in recent weeks have taken the shine off Chelsea’s promising campaign. But a comfortable 2-1 win against Lille in their previous match suggests the team will come out firing this weekend.

Tammy Abraham’s thirteenth goal of the season helped Lampard’s men overcome the French side. 11 of the England striker’s goals have come in just 15 Premier League appearances.

However, Chelsea’s defensive problems continue to pile up. Only the top three teams have scored more goals than Chelsea in the league, but the Blues have the worst defensive record of all the teams in the top half of the table.

Five straight defeats have seen Bournemouth slip to fifteenth. The south coast side are now just one point clear of the relegation zone and Eddie Howe will be looking for a response from his players this weekend.

With 16 games played, the Cherries have only managed to win a quarter of their matches. They have also lost exactly half of their Premier League games this season.

Bournemouth started the season brightly, but a string of poor performances has sent the club plummeting down the table. To make matters worse, just four sides have scored fewer goals than the Cherries in England’s top-flight.

Remarkably, Bournemouth claimed a 4-0 victory over Chelsea when the two teams last met. The Blues had only conceded three goals in their four previous league visits to the Vitality Stadium.

With the being said, Chelsea have won 11 of their 15 meetings with Bournemouth, and given the Cherries’ recent form, the Blues look set to pick up another victory this time around.

Bournemouth have been hampered by injuries this season, but key forward Joshua King could return to the team on Saturday following a hamstring issue.

Fikayo Tomori is in line to return for Chelsea after sitting out of the clash against Lille, so Frank Lampard is likely to ring the changes.

Chelsea will be full of confidence after qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League, while Bournemouth are enduring a wretched run of results.

Forebet predicts that the home side will claim all three points. However, Chelsea’s questionable defensive record means Bournemouth could get on the scoresheet.
