Cardiff to bag the points against Barnsley
2147

The new era at Cardiff City under new manager, Neil Harris, has started in positive fashion as the former Millwall boss has made an unbeaten start to his new tenure with The Bluebirds as his side are unbeaten in their first 3 matches under Harris.

A 2-2 draw away at Charlton Athletic was followed by back-to-back wins against Stoke City 1-0 at home and then Harris’s former side as a player, Nottingham Forest, in an impressive 1-0 win away from home at the City Ground.

Despite the departure of former boss, Neil Warnock, the transition in managers at the top has been a seemingly smooth one as Cardiff have lost just 1 of their last 5 matches overall in the Championship, along with picking up an earlier win against Birmingham City 4-2 at their Cardiff City Stadium.

The Bluebirds have also lost just once at home all season to date in the second tier and along with keeping 3 clean sheets, the hosts have also scored in 8 of their 9 matches played on home turf so far this season.

This could therefore spell trouble for visitors, Barnsley, as The Tykes sit bottom of the Championship despite their recent 3-1 home win against Hull City last weekend which ended a miserable run of 17 matches without a win in the second tier.

Barnsley have collected just 2 wins throughout this campaign to date, both of which were recorded on home turf at their Oakwell ground with victories over Fulham 1-0 (on the opening night of the season) and last weekend’s win against Hull City.

Results away from home have therefore been poor as Barnsley have been unable to produce any kind of form once again on their travels in the Championship; indeed, it’s now 16 matches without an away win for the South Yorkshire side in the Championship, a woeful run of results which includes no fewer than 13 defeats.

In addition, Barnsley have kept just 1 clean sheet on the road during this atrocious period of results, which was courtesy of a 0-0 draw at Wigan Athletic this season and they’ve also lost the last two meetings on the trot against Cardiff City which were a 2-1 defeat away from home and an earlier 1-0 defeat at Oakwell.

Cardiff therefore look the more likely for the points here.
