Leicester City to inflict more issues on Unai Emery’s Arsenal

Leicester City could reach as high as second place in the Premier League with a win over Arsenal and Liverpool win over Manchester City on Sunday. It could be a big weekend for the Foxes and a chance to prove they are one of the big players in the Premier League this season.

They will need to knockoff the Gunners which may be easier said than done. Arsenal are unbeaten in five straight matches in all competitions; however, four straight games have ended in draws.

The Gunners’ four straight draws saw them concede goals after having taking leads. Defence is a massive problem at the Emirates and no solutions look to be forthcoming. Manager Unai Emery is under fire and rumours of Jose Mourinho coming into take over have floated around this week.

Leicester City have not played particularly well against teams in the top five this season. The Foxes drew 1-1 away to Chelsea and needing a second half goal to claim a draw. Leicester City then lost to Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield.

The Foxes have beaten Arsenal in their last two meetings at the King Power Stadium. Leicester City outscored Arsenal in those two Premier League matches 6-1.

Despite Leicester City’s recent successes against Arsenal, the London-based club are unbeaten in eight of 10 Premier League matches against the Foxes. Arsenal’s last win at the King Power Stadium came back in the 2015-16 season as they won 5-2.

Matches between Leicester City and Arsenal are typically high scoring. Seven of their last 10 matches in the league all ended with over 2.5 goals scored. In addition, seven of 10 matches between the two teams ended with both teams scoring.

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka was reportedly to play in midweek against Vitoria de Guimaraes but didn’t make the squad. It looks unlikely that Xhaka will play this weekend either for the Gunners. Dani Ceballos looks likely to miss through injury after picking up a thigh problem in midweek.

Brendan Rodgers has no new injury problems at Leicester City. Matthew James is the only player out with an injury but the midfielder has been sidelined since last spring.

Arsenal are struggling to keep leads and defensively look weak. They have struggled at the King Power Stadium and those problems will continue on Saturday. Leicester City will pick up their first win against a top five team as over 2.5 goals are scored.
