Brentford and Millwall in low-scoring London clash
Brentford vs Millwall - 19/10/2019
2214
Both Brentford and Millwall occupy places in the bottom half of the Championship prior to this Saturday’s all-London clash at Griffin Park and both clubs will want to resume their season with all three points after the recent international break.
17th placed Brentford have had a difficult campaign to date which is perhaps no surprise to many as The Bees parted ways with former prolific striker, Neil Maupay, as he joined Premier League side, Brighton, during the summer and his departure has left a big hole in Brentford’s goalscoring department.
The hosts have managed to score just 9 goals in their first 11 matches overall so far this season, and just 5 at home with only Leeds United (4) scoring fewer goals at home than Brentford to date in the Championship.
This has led to Brentford being involved in 3 draws out of their first 5 matches at Griffin Park this term as The Bees have simply very little firepower up front after Maupay’s departure.
Draws against Hull City 1-1, Stoke City 0-0 and Bristol City 1-1 underline Brentford’s lean towards the draw this term while they also lost 1-0 at home to Birmingham City, making it 4 out of their 5 home matches resulting in under 2.5 goals.

Millwall recently parted ways with former manager and playing legend, Neil Harris, as Millwall’s leading striker of all time decided to walk away from the club after a poor sequence of results.
Although Millwall endured a recent 7-match run without a win, it was a surprise to many connected with the club, and indeed, the footballing community that Harris decided to quit his post, but The Lions do bring a decent looking 3-match run without defeat into this clash at Griffin Park.
Back-to-back 1-1 draws with Huddersfield Town and Luton Town, both away from home, along with a much-needed and impressive 2-1 home win over high-flying Leeds United could be the platform from which Millwall continue the rest of the season.
That said, Millwall still need to focus their attention on their poor results away from home in the Championship as they’ve now gone 10 matches without a win on their travels, which consists of 5 draws and 5 defeats.
8 of Millwall’s last 10 away matches have resulted under 2.5 goals as they too have struggled to find the back of the net on the road.
In addition, the last 5 meetings between these two sides have resulted in under 2.5 goals and we could be in for another low-scoring encounter here on Saturday.
