Blackburn and Huddersfield to both score at Ewood Park

Blackburn and Huddersfield to both score at Ewood Park

Blackburn Rovers would have welcomed the recent international break as it gave Tony Mowbray’s side a chance to re-group and hit the re-set button following a 3-match sequence without a win in the Championship.

Recent defeats to Luton Town and QPR in 2-1 and 4-2 losses respectively along with a 1-1 draw in-between with Nottingham Forest means that Rovers have picked up just 1 point from the last possible 9 on offer, and this has in turn resulted in Saturday’s hosts dropping down to 14th place in the Championship.

However, although the wins have been a little thin on the ground of late, all of Blackburn’s last 4 matches have resulted with both teams scoring, and with an uncertain record at Ewood Park under their belts so far this season (won 2, drawn 2, lost 2), another match with both teams scoring looks a reasonable outcome here.

Although Huddersfield Town manager, Danny Cowley’s tenure with The Terriers started with back-to-back defeats to Sheffield Wednesday and West Brom, there were nonetheless, signs that the Yorkshire club still had some life in them.

The Cowley effect is now starting to take effect at the John Smith’s Stadium as Huddersfield Town head into Saturday’s clash with Blackburn Rovers on the back of a 3-match run without defeat in the Championship.

A 1-1 draw with Millwall was followed by impressive back-to-back wins against Stoke City and Hull City, and The Terriers will no doubt be relishing this upcoming clash as they look to see how they match up to Rovers on home turf.

However, before we all get too carried away, Huddersfield have posted just 1 away win out of their first 5 matches on the road so far this season, a sequence that also includes 3 defeats at Cardiff City, Luton Town and West Brom.

It would therefore be a brave man to back Huddersfield for a straight win here, but the goals market appeals as 4 of Huddersfield’s 5 away matches have resulted with both teams hitting the back of the net.

Neither side look particularly attractive for the straight win market here, but as 5 of the last 7 meetings between these two sides have resulted in both teams scoring, this looks the most likely outcome on Saturday.
