Germany to enjoy another big win over Estonia

Germany thumped Estonia 8-0 earlier this year in Euro 2020 qualifying with six different players getting onto the scoresheet. Will the Germans find the back of the net in a similar fashion on Sunday?
Joachim Low’s team go into the weekend following a Wednesday night 2-2 draw with Argentina. The international friendly saw Germany race out to a two-goal lead before halftime. However, Argentina scored two goals in the second half to leave Germany with a draw.
Estonia are dead last in Euro 2020 Group C qualifying. The eastern Europeans have collected just one point from 18 possible. That point came on Thursday night in a bore nil-nil draw against Belarus.
Manager Karl Voolaid has a squad of players with a majority of them playing in the Estonia domestic division. The rest of the squad’s players come from clubs in Norway, Sweden, and Poland. The quality just isn’t near that of Germany or the other teams in Group C.
On Thursday night, the Netherlands moved to the top of Group C with a 3-1 in over Northern Ireland. Although Germany and the Netherlands are level on points and goal difference, the Dutch are top due to the number of goals they scored against Germany.
The Germans need a victory over Estonia on Sunday to keep pace with the Netherlands. The Dutch will take on Belarus in Minsk on Sunday as well.
Low has a several players in-form for both club and country heading into Tallinn. Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz scored against Argentina and is linked with a transfer to Arsenal. Forward Serge Gnabry just cannot stop scoring currently as he bagged another goal against the Argentines.
The manager deployed a three-man backline against Argentina of Emre Can, Niklas Sule, and Robin Koch. It was experimental and different than the four-man defence used in September’s Euro 2020 qualifiers.
Manuel Neuer should return in goal for Germany against Estonia. Low gave Barcelona No. 1 Marc-Andre ter Stegen the chance to impress in goal. Although two goals were allowed, neither were Ter Stegen’s fault rather the defensive letdown in front of him.
Neuer’s omission from the team on Wednesday gave Joshua Kimmich the chance to wear the national team armband for the first time.
Germany put on two different performances against Argentina. The first half was a brilliant attacking display while the second was a major defensive letdown.
The Germans won’t have the same problems on Sunday against Estonia and should put another sizeable number of goals between themselves and the hosts. Another German clean sheet looks likely.
