Paris-Saint Germain to take command of UCL Group A with win

Paris Saint-Germain shocked Real Madrid with a 3-0 win on Champions League matchday 1. Now, the Parisians looked to take command of Group A with a victory over Turkey’s Galatasaray.

Thomas Tuchel’s team had little difficulty handling Real Madrid and looked dominant in the fixture. However, we see this every year in the group stage with Paris Saint-Germain.

They are often flat-track bullies unable to win in the knockout round. This season could be different but there is still a long way to go until the Champions League Final.

Galatasaray drew nil-nil with Club Brugge on matchday 1. Neither side was able to find the back of the net over the course of 90 minutes.

If Fatih Terim wants his team to come away with any points in this game, then it needs to score goals. Galatasaray are not playing well on the domestic front as they sit seventh. The Lions have collected just nine points from 18 possible.

Over the weekend, Galatasaray drew nil-nil with Istanbul city rival Fenerbahce. Goals have been hard to come by for Galatasaray as they have scored just six times in the Turkish league. The good news is they have conceded just six times as well.

Paris Saint-Germain suffered a shock defeat to Stade Reims in midweek before defeating Bordeaux 1-0 at the weekend. They laboured for that victory against Bordeaux despite Neymar, Angel Di Maria, and Kylian Mbappe all playing.

Mbappe is now back from injury and should be able to link up well with Neymar. The Brazilian scored the winner against Bordeaux. Both Mauro Icardi and Ander Herrera were left on the bench at the weekend as game time has been hard to come by.

Striker Edinson Cavani is likely to miss out once more for the Parisians due to injury. Even if Cavani was fit, there is no guarantee he would make the squad with the number of attacking players at Tuchel’s disposal.

Galatasaray’s European form has been atrocious in recent seasons. They have not won a European fixture in their last eight tries. Striker Radamel Falacao is expected to start up front while Mario Lemina and Steven N’Zonzi are both expected to man the midfield for the Turkish side.

While Galatasaray do have some star power, it pales in comparison to Paris Saint-Germain. The Parisians could run riot in Turkey with a win. Neymar and company will pick up the victory with over 2.5 goals going into the goals.
