Marseille to temporarily close the gap on PSG

Marseille have the chance to close the gap on Ligue One leaders PSG at least temporarily on Tuesday night, as they visit Dijon.

OM are currently fifth place in Ligue One, four points behind the league leaders and champions in the French top-flight table. The visitors have made an inconsistent start to the French Ligue One, but are five matches unbeaten in the league.

Last time out, Marseille drew 1-1 at home against Montpellier, which was a slightly disappointing result with OM striving for more consistency.

This clash gives OM the chance to bounce back to winning ways and move closer to the big-spending Parisian giants. Andre Villas-Boas’ team will be confident of picking up a win in this clash, as they have won six of their last eight matches with Dijon, suffering just one defeat in the process.

The fact that OM are unbeaten in four of their last six Ligue One matches on their travels will also add to the belief that the visitors will record a win at the Stade Gaston-Gerard.

Dijon have made a woeful start to the new Ligue One campaign. In fact, the home side are currently bottom of the French top-flight table, having failed to win this season, while suffering five defeats in six matches. Their poor form in the French top-flight dates back to last season, as they have lost nine of their last 11 matches in Ligue One.

Their home form in Ligue One has not helped Dijon’s chances of keeping clear of the relegation zone.

They have failed to win in three home matches while winning just three league matches in 12 Ligue One outings. A match against OM is not exactly an ideal game for Dijon to return to winning ways on home soil.
