Reading and Blackburn to both score at the Madejski Stadium

Reading once again find themselves in familiar territory in the Championship as The Royals currently occupy a place in the bottom half of the division in 17th place ahead of this Saturday’s clash with Blackburn Rovers at their Madejski Stadium.
The hosts have also suffered recent back-to-back defeats to Charlton Athletic and Middlesbrough so they’ll be keen to stop this slide and add to their points tally on home turf this Saturday.
It’s been a mixed return of results so far this season for Reading but the hosts have already lost 4 of their opening 7 matches of the new Championship campaign with 2 defeats at both home and on the road.
Reading manager, Jose Gomes, will therefore be desperate for his side to rekindle the sort of form which saw The Royals suffer just 1 defeat within an impressive 10-match sequence at home in the second half of the season.
Onto Blackburn Rovers, and the visitors have also experienced a mixed start to this new Championship campaign as they sit mid-table in 13th place but they’ve lost just once in their last 5 matches in the second tier which was a 3-2 loss away at West Brom.
Within this recent 5-match sequence though are three wins against Middlesbrough, Hull City and Millwall, so Rovers will no doubt fancy their chances of inflicting a third defeat on the trot upon their hosts on Saturday afternoon.
However, results on the road in the Championship for Blackburn have been pretty average as the visitors have registered just 4 wins out of their last 20 matches on their travels in the second tier, so they’re by no means guaranteed of the points here either.
But the goals market appeals, especially when looking at Blackburn’s away results - 16 of Blackburn’s last 20 away matches have resulted in both teams scoring as they’ve just been unable to keep clean sheets on the road for some time.
Indeed, Blackburn have managed to keep just 2 clean sheets on their travels within these last 20 away matches which must be a concern for manager, Tony Mowbray, who himself was a defender.
The previous 5 meetings between Reading and Blackburn Rovers have resulted with both teams scoring, and this trend could well continue here this afternoon with both teams keen to progress up the table.
