Millwall and QPR set for stalemate at The Den

Millwall and QPR set for stalemate at The Den
2078

Millwall will no doubt be keen to return to The Den for this Saturday’s local clash with QPR having played 3 of their last 4 matches away from home in the Championship as the fixture computer hasn’t done The Lions any favours in recent weeks.

These three away matches have see Millwall earn just 1 point from a possible 9 as they’ve fallen to defeats at Fulham 4-0 and Blackburn Rovers 2-0, while picking up a point on the road at The Riverside Stadium with a 1-1 draw against Middlesbrough.

The home comforts of The Den though have been where Millwall have collected the majority of their points so far this season thanks to early back-to-back wins against Preston North End and Sheffield Wednesday, both in 1-0 victories, along with a 1-1 draw with Hull City.

With just 1 defeat out of their last 8 matches on home turf, Millwall have made themselves tougher to beat than previously, and within this recent 8-match sequence, their defence has kept 5 clean sheets which will have pleased Millwall manager, Neil Harris.

4 of Millwall’s last 8 home matches in the Championship have been draws though.

Onto QPR, and the local visitors make the short trip to The Den looking to capture a fourth league win on the trot in the Championship following recent victories against Wigan Athletic, Sheffield Wednesday and Luton Town which has helped lift The R’s up into 7th place and the fringes of the play-off pack.

QPR had previously suffered back-to-back defeats to Bristol City and Swansea City, but Mark Warburton’s side seem to have recovered from that mini wobble and will fancy their chances of getting something against Millwall.

The visitors have also won 3 of their last 4 matches on the road with victories gained at Sheffield Wednesday, Stoke City and another win at Sheffield Wednesday this season.

However, this is for all intents and purposes a local derby, and although QPR have a winning momentum behind them, Millwall have been tough to budge at The Den in recent times.

In addition, there’s also the fact that 4 of the last 6 meetings between these two sides have ended in draws, and another stalemate here on Saturday afternoon can’t be ruled out.
