Blackburn Rovers headed into the international break on the back of a disappointing 3-2 defeat away at West Brom.
That would have been a bitter blow to Blackburn’s manager, Tony Mowbray, who was facing one of his former clubs, but they have a chance to redeem themselves this Saturday when they entertain Millwall at Ewood Park.
Blackburn have posted a mixed bag of results so far in the Championship this season having won 1-0 at home against another of Mowbray’s old clubs, Middlesbrough, as well as a 1-0 win away at Hull City, but Rovers have also been handed defeats at Fulham and West Brom.
However, despite losing their opening home match of the season 1-0 to newly promoted Charlton Athletic, the hosts have steadied the ship with the aforementioned 1-0 win over Middlesbrough along with a point against Cardiff City in a 0-0 draw.
Blackburn have lost just 1 of their last 6 matches at Ewood Park in the Championship, while the bigger picture shows us that goals have been hard to come by at home with 14 out of their 23 home matches last season resulting in under 2.5 goals.
Millwall grabbed a decent point at home to Hull City just before the break with the points shared in a 1-1 draw at The Den and this followed another 1-1 stalemate in the match beforehand away at Middlesbrough as Millwall have re-grouped after their recent mauling at London rivals, Fulham.
The visitors were handed a heavy 4-0 thrashing at Craven Cottage as Fulham look to make a quick return to the Premier League, but that has been The Lions’ only defeat so far in this season’s Championship.
Millwall manager, Neil Harris, will be desperate for his side to be more competitive away from home though in the second tier this season as his side have collected just 3 away wins out of their last 28 matches on their travels.
But just like Blackburn Rovers, Millwall have also found scoring goals hard to come by on the road and this contributed to 14 out of Millwall’s 23 away matches last term also resulting in under 2.5 goals.
In addition, the last three encounters between these two sides have resulted in low-scoring matches and under the 2.5 goal mark, so this clash could be another dour, hard fought affair.
