There is not much rest time for the international players in La Liga as the action resumes on Friday night.  We have a great game to look forward to between Real Mallorca and Athletic Bilbao at the Iberostar Estadi in Palma.

Both teams will be hoping their international players recover in time for this match in what is a tight schedule, especially for the away team. However, neither squad are full of players representing their country so it may not be a huge problem.

Real Mallorca come into the match having lost their game 2-0 at Valencia.  It was not a match they were expected to win and the goals were both from the penalty spot, the first of which came just before half-time.

That result followed a narrow 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Real Sociedad.  The match looked to be edging towards a draw but the visitors scored the winning goal with just 7 minutes remaining on the clock.

However, Real Mallorca do have a win to their name this season and they started their campaign following promotion with a 2-1 win over Eibar at home.  They will be hoping they can find the back of the net again in this game having failed to score in their last two outings.

Trends show Real Mallorca have yet to keep a clean sheet this season and that’s going to have to improve unless they can start scoring plenty of goals to win games.

Athletic Bilbao have enjoyed their start to the 2019/20 La Liga season. They begin the weekend in second place having won two and drawn one of their three matches.  Athletic Bilbao started the season with an excellent 1-0 home win over Barcelona and that set the tone for the season.

They followed that with a 1-1 draw at Getafe.  While not a brilliant result on the face of it, Getafe were strong last season and a point could prove to be a good result come the end of the season.  Prior to the international break, Athletic Bilbao beat Real Sociedad 2-0 at home in what was a big win for the club and fans.

Trends show there have been under 2.5 goals in seven of Athletic Bilbao’s last eight La Liga games. They have also failed to score a goal in four of their last six away matches in the league.

Looking ahead to the team news and Real Mallorca have doubts over the fitness of Abdon Prats Bastidas, who is recovering from a knee injury.  He is the only player who could miss out for the hosts.

Athletic Bilbao will travel without the injured duo of Gorka Guruzeta and Oscar De Marcos.  They also have doubts over the fitness of Cristian Ganea who suffered a concussion.

This is a match which is likely to see under 2.5 goals.  Real Mallorca have been struggling to keep clean sheets this season and it is Athletic Bilbao who could come away with a win to nil.
