Italy to maintain 100 per cent record against Armenia
3384
Italy were always expected to cruise to qualification for Euro 2020 from Group J. In reality, the Azzurri have very little real competition in the group. Roberto Mancini’s side has lived up to expectations by winning all four of their qualifiers so far.
A trip to Armenia on Thursday evening should hold little fears for the Azzurri, who are still only three points ahead of second-place Finland despite their stellar start to qualifying.
However, in terms of performance, Italy have been head and shoulders above the other teams in the group. A goal difference of + 12 illustrates their dominance so far, as the Azzurri have scored 13 times and conceded just once in Group J.
The only team to breach the Italian defence so far in Euro 2020 qualification is Bosnia-Herzegovina, last time out in qualifying in a 2-1 win for Mancini’s team.
It may not come as a major surprise that Italy are flying in Group J, as they are unbeaten in qualifying for the European Championships in 34 matches dating way back to 2006. Judging by their performances so far in the group, the Azzurri could maintain that record in qualifying for Euro 2020 too.
The home side has made a mixed start to their qualifying campaign. They are third place in the group after winning two and losing two of their last four outings so far in Group J.
Armenia have bounced back from defeats in their opening two qualifiers to record victories over Lichtenstein and last time out Greece, in a 3-2 thriller.
Prior to the recent back-to-back victories, the home side had been on a winless run of 11 games in European Championship qualifying. Thursday night’s game is a big threat to their recent mini winning run in qualifying.
Forebet predicts that Italy will cruise to victory in a high-scoring game further underlining their credentials as the dominant force in Group J.
