On Tuesday night, Chesterfield host Halifax at the Proact Stadium, in a big game for both teams in the National League.

The two teams have enjoyed highly contrasting starts to their campaigns in the National League. The home side are currently 22nd in the table, having taken a measly five points from eight matches so far this season. In contrast, Halifax are second in the table, just two points off the top of the table.

Not only have Chesterfield failed to win in their eight matches this season, they have now failed to win in nine games at this level, having also lost their final game of last season.

The fact that they have not won in the National League in four home games has not helped their cause.

Despite their poor results on home soil of late, the home side has been relatively prolific at the Proact Stadium in the National League, scoring at least two goals in six of their last nine matches. Both teams have also scored in Chesterfield’s last five home matches in the competition.

Halifax heads into this clash on the back of a four-game unbeaten run, having won their last three matches. Last time out, the Shaymen recorded a 2-1 home win over Solihull Moors.

Halifax have a mixed recent away record in the National League. However, they have won just three of their last nine matches on their travels at this level. Their away record in the National League this season reads played four, won two, drawn one and lost one.
