Malmo to continue their good run of form against Sirius

On Sunday afternoon, Swedish league leaders Malmo host inconsistent Sirius at the Swedbank Stadion.

The home side are currently top of the table after a good campaign in the Allsvenskan. However, Malmo are just four points ahead of second-place reigning champions AIK, who play on Saturday.

Uwe Rosler’s team are on a run of 14 games unbeaten in the Allsvenskan, having recorded ten victories. Last time out in the Swedish top-flight, Djurgarden held the leaders to a 1-1 draw. The game was the third in their last four league outings to have produced under 2.5 goals.

Despite those recent low-scoring games, the leaders are still the second-highest scorers in the Allsvenskan this season, with only Hammarby scoring more goals than Malmo’s 28. The home side also has the joint-best defensive record in the Swedish top-flight, alongside second place AIK.

Malmo have a formidable recent home record in the Allsvenskan, having won their last seven league games on home soil, having scored at least two goals in six of those victories. They are also unbeaten in 19 league games on home soil.

Another positive for Malmo is that they have won four of the last five meetings between the two teams.

Sirius are experiencing a seriously inconsistent campaign in the Allsvenskan, having taken just 15 points from their opening 17 league games this season. A record of just three wins in their last 13 league games shows that their recent form has not been great.

Their recent away record in the Allsvenskan has also been highly inconsistent, as they have won three, lost three and drawn one of their last seven matches in the Swedish top-flight. Their recent away games have been low-scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in seven of their last eight matches.

Forebet predicts that Malmo will record a comfortable victory in a high-scoring encounter.
