Beijing Guoan to add misery to local rivals

Derby days are always special affairs no matter where you are in the world. On Wednesday morning a derby takes place in the Chinese Super League, as Beijing Guoan host Beijing Renhe at the Workers' Stadium.
The two teams from the Chinese capital have certainly experienced contrasting fortunes this season. The home side are currently topping the table, leading second place GZ Evergrande by two points.
Meanwhile, the visitors are rock bottom of the table and badly in need of kick-starting their campaign.
Roger Schmidt’s Guoan team have been highly prolific this season, as no team have scored more goals than the home sides 35 in the Chinese top-flight. At the other end of the pitch, they also have the joint-best defensive record alongside title-rivals GZ Evergrande.
Renhe, on the other hand, are currently struggling for results. However, all is not lost for the visitors, as they are just a point away from the safety of 14th place in the table.
A win in this clash and favourable results elsewhere would move them out of the drop zone.
However, hinted at by the two teams very different positions in the table, Guoan are in great form and Renhe the opposite. In fact, the home side has recorded five wins in their last six league outings, while scoring at least twice in all five victories.
Guoan also have a formidable recent home record, having won their last ten home matches in the Super League, while scoring two goals in each. This does not bode well for the away side, who have lost their last five league matches, while also conceding twice in all of those defeats.
