LA Galaxy and San Jose to both notch on Friday night

LA Galaxy and San Jose to both notch on Friday night
2140

LA Galaxy head into their second of a 3-game home stand on Friday night when they entertain fellow Western Conference outfit, San Jose Earthquakes, at their Dignity Health Sports Park.

LA Galaxys have produced mixed results in recent weeks as they’ve alternated between winning and losing of late; wins against Orlando City, Sporting Kansas, Cincinnati and Toronto have been offset by defeats to New England Revolution and Friday night’s opponents, San Jose Earthquakes (away).

Prior to this inconsistent sequence of results, there was a consistent run - of defeats. The Galaxy had to endure a 4-match losing streak which saw the hosts suffer losses to New York Red Bulls, Columbus Crew, New York City and Colorado Rapids.

Results at their Dignity Health Sports Park have also been unconvincing as the hosts have lost 3 of their last 4 matches on home turf after making an excellent start to the season where they posted 6 wins on the trot in their own backyard.

Instead, the goals markets seems the best option here as 6 of LA Galaxy’s 10 home matches to date have seen both teams score.

Despite sitting in 6th place on the Western Conference ladder and trailing LA Galaxy by a 6-point margin, San Jose Earthquakes will be looking to post another victory over their hosts, LA Galaxy, following their resounding 3-0 win over them at their Avaya Stadium just a couple of weeks ago.

The visitors seem to be on a more even keel than LA Galaxy in recent weeks as they’ve lost just 1 of their last 8 matches overall in the MLS, making them the 3rd placed in-form team in the MLS ahead of this weekend’s fixtures.

That defeat was a 3-1 loss away at Minnesota United, but wins recorded against Chicago Fire, Toronto, Houston Dynamo, LA Galaxy and Real Salt Lake have maintained their position in the play-off pack of the Western Conference.

The sceptics would point out that 4 of these 5 league wins for San Jose were registered at their Avaya Stadium, while on the road, San Jose have managed to record just 1 win in total on their travels so far this season.

A switch to the goals market for San Jose indicate that 7 of their 8 away matches to date have resulted in both teams scoring.

This trend may well continue in LA this Friday night too.
