Orlando and Philadelphia to both score in Eastern clash

Orlando and Philadelphia to both score in Eastern clash
2053

Following a 3-game road trip which saw Orlando City pick up two wins on their travels, they’ll no doubt be looking forward to returning to their Exploria Stadium as they prepare for the visit of Eastern Conference leaders, Philadelphia Union.

Despite posting a mixed bag of results in recent weeks, Orlando City picked up two wins on the road at Montreal Impact and Columbus Crew in 3-0 and 2-0 victories respectively, and they’ll be full of confidence when they return to home turf on Wednesday night.

However, the hosts have recorded just 3 wins out of their last 9 matches overall in the MLS, which includes an additional 5-1 thrashing of hapless Cincinnati back in May.

After a slow start to their campaign on home soil, which saw Orlando City without a win after their first 3 home matches of the new season, they’ve since bounced back to record 3 wins from their subsequent 5 matches.

Inconsistency still lingers though, so perhaps the goals market is the best option where the hosts are concerned; indeed, 5 of Orlando City’s 8 home matches have seen both teams score.

Philadelphia Union still remain top of the Eastern Conference despite being handed a 4-2 defeat away from home at New York City last time out in the MLS.

The visitors now possess a slender 1-point cushion over 2nd placed DC United ahead of this tricky looking trip to face Orlando City in Florida on Wednesday night.

Philadelphia have also posted mixed results in recent times as they’ve recorded wins against Minnesota United and New York Red Bulls, but have also fallen foul to losses against New York City and Portland Timbers.

Results away from home haven’t been exactly convincing either to date this season as The Union have won 3, drawn 3 and lost 3 so far on their travels, but the goals have continued to flow on the road.

The goals markets therefore also look favourable when Philadelphia take to the road as 6 of their 9 away matches to date have seen both teams score.

In addition, the last 6 meetings between Orlando City and Philadelphia Union have produced a total of 22 goals, with 4 of these 6 encounters also seeing both teams score.

With both Orlando and Philadelphia capable of scoring and conceding, this trend looks set to continue here.
