Chile play Peru in the second semi-final of the 2019 Copa America.

Chile – who are targeting their third successive title – overcame Colombia on penalties to reach the last four.

Peru also qualified via a penalty shootout, claiming a surprise quarter-final victory over Uruguay.

La Blanquirroja find themselves in the semi-finals despite only winning one game in normal time so far at this year’s tournament.

They also failed to produce a single shot on target against Uruguay and are certainly the surprise package in the last four

Chile were seen as the underdogs in their quarter-final clash with high-flying Colombia.

Colombia were the only team to take maximum points from the group stage however the reigning champions produced a dominant display.

Chile had the majority of the possession and nearly twice as many shots as Colombia before eventually winning the match 5-4 on penalties.

Many people had discounted Chile’s chances prior to the tournament but just one match stands between them and yet another Copa America final.

On the other hand, Peru are bidding to reach their first final since they last won the competition in 1975.

Chile have beaten Peru 45 times over the years whilst Peru have only registered 22 wins in reply.

The last five meetings between the two teams have seen at least three goals scored, so another entertaining match is expected this time around.

Despite Chile’s dominance of this tie, Peru won their most recent encounter 3-0 and will be dreaming of a similar sort of performance on Thursday.

Chile have had a relatively settled starting eleven throughout the tournament and Reinaldo Rueda is not expected to spring any surprises with his team selection for this one.

Peru head coach Ricardo Gareca has shuffled his pack throughout the tournament. Andy Polo and Jefferson Faran were both dropped for their quarter-final triumph and will be hoping to return against Chile.

Brazil or Argentina awaits the winner of this match in the final of the 2019 Copa America.

The winner of this tie would head into the final as underdogs but with the tournament favorites nowhere near their best, they will both be quietly confident of causing an upset.

Forebet predicts that it will be a cagey affair, with the chance of extra-time and penalties a real possibility.
