Group F favorites Ghana and Cameroon face each other at the Ismailia Stadium on Saturday.

The Black Stars will desperate to bounce back from a surprise draw with Benin in their opening match.

Cameroon will be looking to extend their winning start after they opened their account with a victory over Guinea-Bissau.

Despite dominating proceedings, it took the Indomitable Lions over an hour to break the deadlock. Olympiacos defender Yaya Banana headed home in the 66th minute to give his side the lead.

Stephane Bahoken scored Cameroon’s second just three minutes later. He capitalized on a defensive mix-up to secure the points for Clarence Seedorf’s side.

The holders – and 5-time winners - controlled the tempo throughout their opening match and were the far better side in their tournament opener.

Ghana went behind after just 2 minutes against Benin but captain Andre Ayew fired a low drive into the net just moments later to bring the scores level.

Andre’s brother Jordan gave Ghana the lead just before half time with a brilliant turn and finish but it wasn’t enough to win them the match as they conceded again after the break.

Ghana had to play the majority of the second half with 10 men following John Boye’s dismissal in the 54th minute. The Metz defender will miss the match with Cameroon through suspension.

The Black Stars had less of the possession and also registered half as many shots as Benin. Head coach Akwasi Appiah will be looking for a vast improvement on their last performance as they prepare to face tougher opposition.

Cameroon and Ghana last met in the AFCON 2017 semi-finals and Cameroon claimed a 2-0 victory that day on their way to the title.

The overall head to head record between the two teams stands at 3-2 in favor of Ghana but they have failed to beat Cameroon since 1998.

You have to go back to 1982 for Ghana’s most recent AFCON title but they undoubtedly have a stronger squad this time around.

It’s likely to be a tight game on Saturday. A win for Cameroon would see them advance into the round of 16 and a win for Ghana would all but secure their place in the knockout stage.

Forebet predicts a low scoring draw; a result that would favor Cameroon and their chances of qualification.
