Henan and Shenzhen hoping to move away from the drop zone

On Saturday morning, Henan host Shenzhen at the Zhengzhou Hanghai Stadium, as both sides look to move away from the relegation zone in the Chinese Super League.

Shenzhen are in major danger of being sucked into the relegation zone, as they are just three points clear of the drop zone after 13 matches in the Chinese top-flight. However, the visitors are not exactly flying high either, as they are tenth-place in the table, just five points clear of the drop zone.

The homes side have endured an inconsistent league campaign so far in the Chinese top-flight. A recent five-game winless run has not helped their chances of moving up the standings in the near future.

Henan’s recent league games have not been great entertainment for the spectators, as four of their last five games have produced under 2.5 goals.

They have been poor on home soil of late in the Chinese top-flight, losing four of their last five matches at the Zhengzhou Hanghai Stadium.

A poor run of form and a lack of goals in the Chinese Super League has led to Shenzhen’s current position of just above the drop zone. A goalless draw against Tianjin Teda last time out in the league at least ended a four-game losing run in the top-flight, which is a small positive for the out-of-form visitors.

Going back to the lack of goals, Shenzhen have failed to score in four of their last five Chinese Super League matches. They are also the lowest scoring team in the league, having scored just 12 goals so far this season.

The fact that they have suffered defeat in five of their six away games this season has not helped their chances of avoiding an immediate return to the second tier of Chinese football either.

With neither side in great form, it is hard to separate the pair. However, Forebet predicts that the home side will record a narrow win in a low-scoring clash.
