Malmo to continue title push in Allsvenskan
2319

Allsvenskan league leaders Malmo take on 13th-place Helsingborg on Sunday. Malmo are undefeated in their last six league games with five ending in victory.

Malmo have outscored their last three opponents 8-1 as they kept three straight clean sheets. Manager Uwe Rosler’s team leads the Allsvenskan in goals scored with 24. Meanwhile, their defence has allowed the league’s fewest strikes with nine.

Helsingborg have won just two matches this season. They have collected just 10 points from a possible 33. Manager Per-Ola Ljung’s team has lacked goals. Helsingborg have tallied the fourth fewest goals with just 12. The Reds have allowed the sixth most goals with 18.

Ljung’s side has improved in recent weeks picking up two consecutive 1-1 draws. The Reds are four points off of the Allsvenskan’s bottom club Falkenbergs. They should be able to put more distance between themselves and the relegation zone with more solid results.

Malmo are undefeated in seven of their last 12 matches against Helsingborg in all competitions. Five of those seven matches saw Malmo keep clean sheets.

Sunday’s match Between Helsingborg and Malmo will be their first since 2016. Helsingborg won the Swedish second division last season and are playing their first season in the top-flight in three years.

Helsingborg have played well at home this term posting a 2W-3D-1L record at the Olympia Stadium. The Reds have posted a +1-goal difference when playing on their own ground.

Malmo are the league leaders, but they have only posted the Allsvenskan’s third best away points total. The Sky Blues have picked up eight points from a possible 15 on their travels.

Malmo’s last away fixture ended in a nil-nil draw with Gothenburg. The Sky Blues have posted a 2W-2D-1L record while recording a zero-goal difference.

Helsingborg’s Rasmus Joensson and Andri Runar Bjarnason have scored three goals each. The duo has combined for half of Helsingborg’s goals.

Malmo’s Markus Rosenberg has scored six goals to lead the team in scoring. The Sky Blues’ Marcus Antonsson, Soren Rieks, and Anders Christiansen have combined to score 12 goals to give the team more goal scoring options.

Helsingborg have struggled in their return to the top flight and going up against the best team in the Allsvenskan won’t be easy.

Malmo should have little difficult getting a win at home with Helsingborg struggling to find the back of the net.

Rosler’s team will pick up all three points and keep another clean sheet as they improve their Allsvenskan title push.
