Champions Favourites for Turin Derby
2510
The Serie A action starts early this week and we have a big game to enjoy at the Allianz Stadium between Juventus and Torino.
The Turin derby is always one of the most eagerly anticipated matches of the season and it could have huge consequences for Torino’s season.
Juventus have already sealed the Serie A title and cannot be caught at the top of the table. However, Torino are pushing for European qualification and are just 3 points off the final Champions League place.
The hosts have not had things all their own way in recent games and trends show Juventus have won only one of their last five games in all competitions. That came at home against Fiorentina in Serie A but there have been defeats at SPAL and a draw at Inter Milan. Juventus went out of the Champions League, drawing at Ajax and then losing at home.
However, home form in Serie A is excellent and trends show Juventus are unbeaten in their last nineteen Serie A matches at the Allianz Stadium. They have won each of their last five and scored 2 or more goals in seven of their last eight.
Clean sheets have not been as easy to come by recently and Juventus have kept one in their last four home league games.
Torino kept up their hopes of Champions League football next season with a great 2-0 win over AC Milan last weekend. That result means they enter this match in good form having remained undefeated in their last six Serie A games and lost only one of their last fourteen matches in the league.
There have been three wins and three draws in their last six matches, with the victories coming against Sampdoria at home, Genoa away and AC Milan at home.
Away form also shows they are tough to beat and Torino have remained undefeated in their last six away Serie A matches. They have won two of those games at Frosinone and Genoa but picked up draws at Napoli, Fiorentina and Parma.
Trends show Torino have seen under 2.5 goals in their last four Serie A games, including each of their last three away from home.
Looking ahead to the team news and Juventus have a few players missing for this game due to injury including Paulo Dybala, Sami Khedira and Martin Caceres. Mario Mandzukic and Giorgio Chiellini are doubtful.
Torino have two players suspended and Daniele Baselli and Simone Zaza will be forced to watch from the stands. Iago Falque and Lorenzo De Silvestri could both miss out due to injury.
The absence of Baselli in midfield will be a blow for Torino and although Juventus have nothing to fight for having already won the title, they will be up for this game. It could be a tight affair with Juventus winning by a single goal.
