West Brom to pile further misery upon Rotherham United
2027
West Brom were held to a 0-0 draw away at a resurgent Reading outfit last time out in the Championship but the result had little bearing on their league position with The Baggies remaining in 4th place and firmly cemented in the play-off pack.
West Brom also seem to have recovered from their recent back-to-back defeats to Millwall and Bristol City as they’ve since registered wins over Preston North End and Hull City, with 4-1 and 3-2 wins at The Hawthorns to maintain 4th place.
The Baggies return to The Hawthorns for this clash against beleaguered Rotherham United, and this will be West Brom’s final home match of the regular season so there should be close to a full house ahead of the play-offs.
Caretaker-manager, Jimmy Shan will be expecting all three points here as he looks for his side to continue their momentum into the play-offs when May rolls around, and they look set to do just that as they’ve won their last four on the trot at home with wins against Swansea City, Birmingham City, Preston North End and Hull City.
Rotherham United slumped to a third defeat in four matches on Easter Monday when they suffered a 3-1 defeat at home to Birmingham City, with Rotherham’s situation becoming increasingly desperate.
The Millers actually went 1-0 up and held the lead at half-time, but three second half goals from Birmingham City sealed the points for the west midlands club while leaving Rotherham third from bottom in the Championship and three points behind Millwall.
Rotherham have managed to scrape up just two wins out of their last nine matches overall, and although they’ve given their all in these matches, the positive results still continue to elude them and they’re now staring in the face of relegation.
The visitors have recorded just one win away from home all season which was gained at an out-of-sorts QPR outfit, but it looks extremely unlikely that Paul Warne’s side will come away from The Hawthorns with all three points here, especially as they’ve lost against each of the top six clubs away from home so far this season.
West Brom will be keen to maintain that winning feeling with the play-offs looming while Rotherham will put in plenty of effort but are more than likely to leave empty handed again.
