Brentford to record rare away win at beleaguered Bolton
1566
Bolton Wanderers’ relegation from the Championship was confirmed recently and it’s been a torrid season for The Trotters.
Тhey currently sit second from bottom in the second tier against a backdrop of financial difficulties and uncertainty surrounding the ownership of the club.
Things could hardly get any worse for the hosts as they now play for what little pride they have left, and they come into this clash against Brentford on the back of five defeats on the trot as they’ve suffered defeats to Ipswich Town, Middlesbrough, Derby County, Aston Villa and Easter Monday’s 2-0 defeat away at Lancashire rivals, Blackburn Rovers.
At their Macron Stadium, Bolton have lost their last four matches on the bounce, scoring just 1 goal and conceding 8 in reply, and with just one win out of their last 10 matches on home turf, Phil Parkinson’s side now look a totally dejected unit and bereft of any confidence.
In addition, Bolton Wanderers have managed to score just 13 goals in total at home so far this season which has seen the hosts fail to score in 12 of their 22 home matches to date.
Brentford occupy the relative comfort of 15th place in the Championship ahead of their trip up to Lancashire this Saturday and it’s a familiar story for The Bees who continue to produce positive displays at Griffin Park but struggle on the road.
Brentford have won 8 of their last 11 at home in recent times, but picking up results away from home this season has been their achilles heel throughout this term as the visitors have picked up just two wins on their travels to date.
This Saturday represents a fantastic opportunity though for Thomas Frank’s side to buck the trend as they face a down-and-out Bolton Wanderers outfit who have lost their last four home matches on the trot, and The Bees won’t get a better chance than in this clash to gain a third away win of the season.
Midfielder Canos (7 goals) along with the forward trio of Maupay (24 goals), Watkins and Benrahma (10 goals apiece) should ensure another difficult afternoon for Bolton Wanderers who look doomed to suffer a fifth straight defeat at home here.
Bolton’s confidence looks shattered while Brentford have the tools to pick up all three points in this one.
