The Champions League quarter-final second legs take place this week and on Wednesday night we have an all Premier League clash as Manchester City host Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad Stadium.  The winners of this tie will meet either Juventus or Ajax in the semi-final.

The first leg ended 1-0 to Tottenham Hotspur, with Son Heung-min getting the only goal of the match.  Manchester City should have got a goal themselves but Sergio Aguero missed from the penalty spot and that leaves this tie delicately poised.

Manchester City continued their pursuit of the Premier League title on Sunday as they defeated Crystal Palace 3-1 away from home.  Raheem Sterling was the main man for the visitors, scoring two goals.  That result means Manchester City have won fourteen of their last fifteen games in all competitions, including the penalty shootout victory over Chelsea in the League Cup final.

At home in the Champions League, trends show Manchester City have won each of their last three matches, two of which came in the group stages of the competition and one in the Round of 16. They have been scoring plenty of goals at home in the Champions League but have kept only two clean sheets in their last six home matches in the competition.

Tottenham Hotspur produced a convincing 4-0 win over relegated Huddersfield Town on Saturday to remain in third place in the Premier League.  That result means Tottenham Hotspur have won each of their last three matches in all competitions and have turned their form around following just one win in their previous six games.

However, all three wins have been at home and Tottenham Hotspur have won only one of their last seven away matches in all competitions. They have lost six of those seven games but the one win did come in the Champions League, at Borussia Dortmund.

Trend show Tottenham Hotspur have won their last three Champions League matches and have lost only one of their last seven away from home.  They have drawn four and won two of those seven games and a draw in this one would be enough to see them through.

Tottenham Hotspur have scored at least one goal in each of their last nine away Champions League games but have managed just one clean sheet in their last seven on the road.

Team news and Manchester City have doubts over the fitness of Fernandinho but the Brazilian is key for Pep Guardiola and will want him to start if possible.  He is the only major injury concern for Manchester City and it will be interesting to see if Sergio Aguero or Gabriel Jesus start up-front.

Tottenham Hotspur have been dealt a big blow with the injury to Harry Kane, who will miss out.  Eric Dier, Serge Aurier and Erik Lamela are also out but Dele Alli could start with a cast on his arm having broken his hand.

Tottenham Hotspur’s away form in the Champions League is good but their recent overall away form has been very poor.  Manchester City will be confident of getting the job done and should run out winners, even if Tottenham Hotspur find the back of the net.
