On Friday night, Bordeaux host Marseille at the Stade Matmut-Atlantique, as the visitors attempt to enhance their chances of European football for next season.

Bordeaux have enjoyed an unremarkable Ligue One campaign and currently reside 13th in the table. The home side is unlikely to suffer relegation or now challenge for the European spots.

Inconsistency has been the name of the game at Bordeaux this season. A goalless draw at Amiens last time out means that Bordeaux have now drawn their last three league matches while drawing four of their last six Ligue One games.

Their recent matches have not been for the purists, as five of their last six matches in Ligue Ones have produced under 2.5 goals.

Paulo Sousa’s side has been highly inconsistent at home of late in Ligue One. They have failed to win three matches on home soil, but have lost just once in their last nine home games in Ligue One.

Marseille are still very much in the hunt for the European places in Ligue One. OM are currently fifth-place, just a point behind Saint Etienne who occupy the Europa League qualification spot. The visitors now look unlikely to make the Champions League spots, as they are eight points adrift of third-place Lyon.

A promising run of form has been curtailed in recent games, as OM have picked up just one point from clashes with PSG and last time out Angers. The visitors have at least been hard to beat in recent months, as Marseille have now suffered just one defeat in their last eight league games.

Marseille have been poor on their travels in Ligue One, winning just two of their last eight away matches in the French top-flight. Although OM’s away matches have not always been high scoring of late, both teams have scored in eight of their last nine away games in Ligue One.

Forebet predicts that Bordeaux will dent Marseille’s hopes of finishing in the European qualification spots by holding the visitors to a low scoring draw.
