Porto set to record a vital win over Boavista
2875

On Friday night, Porto host Boavista at the Estadio Do Dragao, as the reigning Portuguese champions look to return to the top of the Primeira Liga.

Porto are currently second in the table, but only behind league leaders and arch-rivals Benfica by virtue of an inferior goal difference. Avoiding defeat in this clash would move Porto back to the top of the table.

Sergio Conceicao’s team has been in good form of late, winning five of their last league games. Their only blip of late was a 2-1 home defeat by rivals Benfica in February.

Conceicao’s team’s title charge has been powered by their attacking prowess, as Porto have now scored at least two goals in five of their last six league games. The exception was the aforementioned defeat against Benfica.

A key factor in Porto’s recent good run of results has been their home form, as they have won ten of their last 11 Primeira Liga games on home soil. The fact that they have been prolific on home soil of late has helped, as Porto have scored at least twice in six of their last seven home games.

Boavista are at 13th place in the Primeira Liga table, just four points clear of the relegation zone. A 2-0 victory over Belenenses last time out in the league ended a three-game losing run.

The visitor’s recent matches in the Primeira Liga have been low scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in six of their last eight outings.

Boavista have a poor recent away record in the Portuguese top-flight, failing to win 12 away matches while suffering five defeats in their last six matches on the road. They have also conceded at least two goals in four of their last six league matches on their travels.

Forebet predicts that Porto will record a victory in a high scoring game to leapfrog arch-rivals Benfica at the top of the table.
