Brentford to bounce back against inconsistent Derby County

Brentford slumped to a third defeat in four matches on Tuesday night when they suffered a heavy 3-0 loss away at Swansea City, which followed previous defeats to Sheffield United and West Brom in recent weeks.
From Christmas through to mid-March, it looked like Brentford were on their way to perhaps standing a decent chance of sneaking a top six finish as they lost just twice in their 13 matches played during this period, but any lingering hopes of a play-off spot have been well and truly dashed in recent times.
However, Brentford continue to be dominant at Griffin Park and although they lost last time out on home turf in a 1-0 loss to high-flying West Brom, the hosts will be confident they can once again play the part of spoilers when they entertain play-off hopefuls, Derby County on Saturday.
Brentford FC have won 6 of their last 8 home matches with goals also featuring prominently as The Bees have racked up a total of 19 goals for and conceding just 6 goals in reply, as forwards Maupay (20 goals) along with Watkins and Benrahma (9 goals apiece) have cashed in on Brentford’s attacking style of play.
Derby County bring a four-match unbeaten run into their clash at Griffin Park having secured wins against Wigan Athletic and Rotherham United, both of which were recorded at their Pride Park ground.
Derby have also been held to 1-1 and 0-0 draws by Sheffield Wednesday and Stoke City as well as The Rams have enjoyed a run of four matches at home, but they now face a difficult looking trip to the nation’s capital to face a Brentford side who have been impressive at Griffin Park this season.
Derby’s task is made even harder by the fact that the visitors have failed to win any of their last five matches on their travels as they’ve suffered defeats at Leeds United, Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa as well as just picking up single points at Preston North End and Ipswich Town.
Given Derby County’s inconsistent nature of results away from home, Brentford will be confident that they can bounce back with all three points here at Griffin Park where they’ve been pretty consistent throughout this campaign to date.
