Sassuolo and Chievo set for a close encounter
2953

On Thursday evening, Sassuolo host Chievo at the MAPEI Stadium, as both teams look to end poor runs of form in the Italian top-flight.

Sassuolo will be looking over their shoulders nervously at the relegation zone, as they are not quite clear of the drop zone, seven points clear in fact. A winless run of eight games in Serie A has not helped their chances of confirming their top-flight status for next season. Sassuolo suffered a 2-1 defeat at struggling Bologna last time out in the league.

Although their recent league matches have not necessarily been high scoring, both teams have scored in four of Sassuolo’s last five games.

A poor run of home form has hindered the home sides chances of climbing up the Serie A table. In fact, Sassuolo have won just once in their last 12 matches on home soil in the Italian top-flight. Their recent home games in Serie A have been high scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in five of their last eight matches on home soil.

Chievo have endured a terrible Serie A campaign so far, as the team from Verona are currently bottom of the table and 16 points from safety. The visitors are not mathematically relegated, but it now seems like just a matter of time till they suffer the drop.

Chievo have failed to win in ten Serie A games, having suffered seven defeats in the process. Last time out, the visitors suffered a 3-0 home defeat against Cagliari. The defeat saw Chievo concede at least two goals for the third time in their last four league matches.

The visitors have failed to win in 14 away games in Serie A. One of their main problems on their travels in Serie A of late has been scoring goals, as they have failed to score in five of their last seven away games.

Both of these teams have been on poor runs of form of late. Forebet predicts that this clash will finish in a low scoring draw.
