Groningen to add to De Graafschap’s relegation worries

On Tuesday night, Groningen host struggling De Graafschap in the Eredivisie, as the visitors look for a vital win in the fight for survival.
Groningen are enduring an inconsistent campaign. However, the home side are 10th in the table and just six points off the Europa League play-off spots. A run of five wins in their last eight Eredivisie matches has given the home side hope of landing a European spot.
However, a 1-0 defeat at AZ Alkmaar last time out in the league ended a seven-game unbeaten run in the Dutch top-flight for Groningen.

A recent run of just two wins in their last seven league outings has not helped their cause. Last time out in the Dutch top-flight, the visitors suffered a 2-1 home defeat against Heracles.
De Graafschap’s recent league matches have at least offered entertainment value, as four of their last five league matches have produced over 2.5 goals.
The visitors have won two of their last three away games in the Eredivisie. However, those wins are their only away wins in 13 matches on their travels in the Dutch top-flight. The fact they have lost four of their last six away games in the Eredivisie has also not helped their chances of escaping the relegation play-off spots.
