Wolverhampton Wanderers obtained a draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford earlier this season. Now, manager Nuno Espirito Santo’s team host the Red Devils on Tuesday night at Molineaux. Wolves defeated Manchester United in mid-March in the FA Cup at Molineaux and they will hope to do the same once more.

Manchester United go into the fixture in better form having won 2-1 against Watford at the weekend. Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was appointed permanent Manchester United boss last week. The Red Devils followed up his appointment with a poor performance, however. Paul Pogba received criticism for his poor play which recalled his performances from earlier this season.

Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial were both on target against Watford with the latter being in great form. Martial returned from injury against Watford, but once again suffered an injured. He is expected to miss Manchester United’s trip to Molineaux. Rashford has tallied 10 goals in 27 matches. Seven of his goals have come since mid-December when Solskjaer was appointed caretaker manager. With Solskjaer now permanent boss, the big question is, can Manchester United continue their good form under the Norwegian?

Wolverhampton Wanderers have won just once in their last six Premier League games. Wolves have their eyes on the FA Cup semifinals against Watford on April 7th. Santo’s team is one step away from a Wembley cup final and he will be focused on getting through Tuesday night’s fixture without key stars suffering an injury.

The old gold and black lost 2-0 to Burnley at the weekend. Despite outplaying Burnley for the 90 minutes, Wolves sank to defeat thanks to a defensive error by centre-back Conor Coady. Santo chose to rest star striker Raul Jimenez from the start of the fixture. The Mexican international, who has scored 12 goals in 31 games, only played the final 30 minutes.

Jimenez scored in Wolves’ FA Cup quarterfinal win over Manchester United in March. Santo may not play Jimenez a full 90 minutes as he preserves his top scorer for the FA Cup semifinal. The manager could rotate his top players to keep them fresh.

Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester United have played twice this season. Both games ended with both teams scoring. Their Premier League fixture ended in more than 1.5 goals. Five of Manchester United’s last six matches have featured over 1.5 goals. Meanwhile, five of Wolves last six matches have also finished with over 1.5 goals scored.

Tuesday night’s fixture should see goals scored in midweek Premier League action. Will Wolverhampton Wanderers take points off of Manchester United again?
