Rotherham United v Norwich City - Match Preview
2363

An extremely important fixture up next which concerns teams at the bottom and top of the Championship as third from bottom club Rotherham United entertain Championship leaders Norwich City which could shape their respective relegation and promotion battles.

Although they currently occupy third from bottom in the Championship, Rotherham United have lost just once in their last eight matches overall, which was a 2-0 defeat away at automatic promotion contenders, Sheffield United, but recent wins against Blackburn Rovers and QPR in recent weeks have given The Millers a lifeline.

The hosts now sit level on 36 points with both Reading and Wigan Athletic and just one point adrift of Millwall ahead of this weekend’s action, although they face an extremely tough assignment against high-flying Norwich City this Saturday.

Nevertheless, Paul Warne’s side are building momentum as they’ve also taken points off Millwall, Wigan Athletic, Hull City, Sheffield Wednesday and Reading in draws too, so the hosts will go for it against Norwich.

Goals have also featured at their AESSEAL New York Stadium this season as well with the hosts scoring a total of 26 goals and conceding 28 in reply. This has resulted in both teams scoring in 13 of their 18 home matches which is perhaps no surprise given the high totals of goals scored and conceded so far this season.

The juggernaut that is Norwich City continued on their relentless winning streak during the week when they beat Hull City 3-2 at Carrow Road to record a fifth win on the trot in the Championship, and was The Canaries’ eighth win from their last 10 matches overall.

They were given a scare against Hull but Norwich came through and returned to the top of the division at the expense of Leeds United, and with Leeds United playing Sheffield United this Saturday, this could be an opportunity for Norwich to extend their lead at the top.

The visitors have won three of their last four matches away from home with wins at Leeds United 3-1, 4-0 at Bolton Wanderers and 3-1 at Millwall, while overall, Norwich have lost just twice on their travels all season and will no doubt fancy their chances of picking up all three points at Rotherham on Saturday.

The Canaries may not get it all their own way though as Rotherham are fighting for their Championship lives, and 13 of Norwich’s 18 away matches to date have seen both teams score

Both teams need the points here, so we could see both score today.
