The final match of the FA Cup quarter-finals this weekend is played on Sunday and will see Millwall and Brighton and Hove Albion go head-to-head at the New Den.
Millwall are the only team remaining in the competition from outside the Premier League and the Championship club will be glad to have a break from their league campaign. Millwall are battling relegation in the Championship and are just 1 point clear of the relegation zone.
Brighton are not yet safe in the Premier League but their position is more secure thanks to a 5 point lead over those in the relegation zone.
Millwall come into this match having picked up an important 2-0 win over Birmingham City in the Championship on Wednesday night. It was their first win in five games, having lost each of the previous four, all of which were in the Championship.
Millwall FC show Millwall have failed to win any of their last four home games, losing two and drawing two. However, their last win at the New Den came on the 26th January when they defeated Premier League club Everton 3-2 to progress in the FA Cup.
Millwall are undefeated in their last nine home FA Cup matches, winning eight and drawing one. Over 2.5 goals have been scored in each of the last four and both teams have netted in those four games.
Brighton secured an important win away to rivals Crystal Palace last weekend as they came away from Selhurst Park with a 2-1 victory. That was enough to move them level on points with Crystal Palace in the table, plus the Seagulls have a game in hand.
Trends show Brighton have won three of their last four matches in all competitions, with two wins coming in the Premier League and one in the FA Cup. The FA Cup victory was 2-1 at home over another Championship team, Derby County.
Away form shows just three wins from their last nine but two of those victories have come in the FA Cup. There have been wins at Bournemouth and West Bromwich Albion, the latter of which was after extra-time.
Brighton have seen over 2.5 goal and both teams score in each of their two away FA Cup ties this season and their most recent FA Cup match, which was the home game against Derby County.
Team news and Millwall have only one injury problem ahead of the game with Conor McLaughlin missing out. They are expected to play in a 4-4-2 formation with Lee Gregory and Aiden O’Brien leading the attack.
Both Pascal Gross and Florin Andone are set to miss the game for Brighton due to injury and will be missed. However, that should mean a start for top scorer Glenn Murray in attack.
This has the makings of a cup upset and Millwall have a great record at home in the competition. If Brighton are not at their best, Millwall could take advantage and we could see a home win, with both teams scoring and over 2.5 goals.
