Bayern Munich heads into Sunday evening’s Bundesliga clash with Mainz at the Allianz Arena on the back of exiting the Champions League against Liverpool.

The Bavarians may have exited the Champions League at the last 16 stage, but they have at least regained top spot in the Bundesliga after a stellar run of form. However, they are only above second place Dortmund on goal difference, so there is still work to do to retain their crown.

A run of 12 wins from 13 matches in the German top-flight has seen the Niko Kovac’s team rise back to the top of the pile in the Bundesliga. A 6-0 home win over Wolfsburg in their last league match also means Bayern München have now scored at least two goals in seven of their last nine games the Bundesliga.

Strong home form has been one of the keys to Bayern’s recent resurgence, as the champions are unbeaten in eight home games in the league, having recorded six straight wins.

Bayern have been prolific on home soil too, as they have scored at least two goals in five of their last seven Bundesliga matches at the Allianz Arena.

Mainz are 13th in the Bundesliga table 12 points off the European spots and 11 points clear of the relegation play-off berth.

A poor recent run of form consisting of five defeats from their last six Bundesliga outings has hampered any chance of the visitors challenging for a European spot this season.

A 1-0 home defeat by Monchengladbach last time out ended a run of high scoring games for the visitors in the top-flight, as their previous seven league matches had produced over 2.5 goals.

Mainz have a poor recent away record in the Bundesliga, losing four of their last six away games while recording just one win in the process.

Forebet predicts that Bayern will continue their strong recent league form by recording a victory in a high scoring clash.
