Brentford v West Brom - Match Preview
3020

We start Saturday’s Championship action with an intriguing clash between Brentford and West Brom as two of the in-form sides meet at Griffin Park in what should be an entertaining encounter with a few goals.

Brentford registered a rare away win at play-off contenders Middlesbrough last weekend with a 2-1 win which stunned Boro, but The Bees couldn’t repeat their heroics against a strong Sheffield United outfit during the week as they went down to a 2-0 loss at Bramall Lane.

However, Brentford FC return to their beloved Griffin Park ground for Saturday’s clash against high-flying West Brom, but the hosts won’t be fazed by who they face on home turf as The Bees have won their last five matches on the trot, while also extending their unbeaten run at home to seven matches.

Recent wins against Stoke City, Blackburn Rovers, Aston Villa, Hull City and QPR have lifted Brentford up into 14th place and they have also collected the most home wins in the Championship outside the top three clubs in the division.

It’s been an entertaining season to date at Griffin Park as the goals have been flowing on a regular basis, but Brentford are also susceptible to conceding too; indeed, 11 of their 18 home matches to date have seen both teams score.

Visitors, West Brom, finally broke their drought of wins at The Hawthorns with a midweek 3-0 win over Swansea City which ended a run of six home games without success. Although they took all three points at home with that win, West Brom will also be confident of getting a result on the road at Brentford on Saturday having won four of their last five matches away from home.

That said, West Bromwich were handed a heavy 4-0 loss away at automatic promotion contenders, Leeds United, in their last away match at Elland Road, so manager Darren Moore will be wanting to see an improved performance on the road in London this Saturday.

West Brom have travelled well this season though, and are tied with Leeds United (10 wins each) for the most away wins in the Championship so far this season.

Similar to Brentford, West Brom are an entertaining side and have scored goals on a regular basis both home and away, while 10 of their 18 away matches have seen both teams score.

Both teams posses some deadly attacking personnel in the shape of Maupay (20 goals) for Brentford and the West Brom duo of Rodriguez (18 goals) and Gayle (16 goals), and the previous encounter between these two clubs ended in a 1-1 draw.

Both teams look set to score again in this important clash.
