Nottingham Forest v Hull City - Match Preview
2479

Nottingham Forest and Hull City are amongst the teams immediately below the play-off pack and these two clubs clash at the City Ground this Saturday with a valuable three points at stake for both teams as they look to make up ground on 6th placed Bristol City.

Nottingham Forest come into this encounter on the back of a disappointing 2-0 defeat away at Stoke City last weekend which halted an encouraging run of four matches without defeat under new manager Martin O’Neill.

After recording just two wins from their previous 10 matches in the Championship, it looked like Forest had turned a corner when they recently registered wins against Brentford and an east midlands local derby win over Derby County, along with points taken off Preston North End and West Brom, in what was a particularly punishing set of fixtures.

The Tricky Trees passed the test though, only to lose to a struggling Stoke City outfit, so it’s perhaps anyone’s guess as to which Nottingham Forest side will turn up for Saturday’s clash with Hull City.

Forest have been impressive though at the City Ground where they’ve posted four wins from their last five matches, including wins against 2nd placed Leeds United, along with victories against Wigan Athletic, Brentford and Derby County.

Hull City bounced back from some earlier ordinary results with a 2-0 home win over Birmingham City last weekend which became their second win on the trot following a 2-1 win over Millwall which was also at their KCOM Stadium.

These two recent wins have lifted Hull City up amongst the candidates for a possible play-off place once again, but it appears to be Hull’s poor results on the road that are holding them back from making a serious challenge on the top six so far this season.

The Tigers have lost three of their last four on their travels having suffered defeats at Blackburn Rovers, Derby County and Brentford, with the most worrying aspect for manager Nigel Adkins, being the fact that the visitors have shipped a total of 10 goals in these three losses, and that Hull have managed just 1 goal in return.

Both Nottingham Forest and Hull City possess some dangerous attacking personnel in the shape of Grabban (17 goals) and Lolley (7 goals) for the hosts, and Bowen (18 goals) and Campbell (11 goals) for the visitors, so these two sides could end up cancelling each other out in a possible draw here.
